Product Review: Deep River Snacks – Tortilla Chips Nacho Kick
Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00No details but recently circumstances required that I make a trip down to Toronto with my Mum. While Mum did her stuff in the Greater Toronto Area, I got to spend an all-to-short six days in the company of my good friends Shane and Sheridan. It was a bittersweet visit, sweet because I got six […]

Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00Plum Mousse with Honey
Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2013-03-16T13:42:28-05:00I must admit, I only gave this recipe a passing glance before I eviscerated it completely. I had two reasons for doing this, I didn’t have the budget to use the wine it wanted and I had limited pans available because of the hall.
- 5 lbs red plums, pitted (skins on)
- 1 tbsp sweet spice (cinnamon, clove, […]
Marinated Pork Roast with Apple Reduction
Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2012-10-01T14:45:20-05:00I’m blessed to live in a city with a large assortment of butcher shops. My favourite shop is run by a great guy who finds my hobby interesting, enough so that he accommodates my rather random odd requests. 60 bone-in rib steaks, 14oz each – no problem. Three large pork shoulders, bone out, seasoned with […]
Cheese and Shallot/Onion Torte
Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00I have a love/hate relationship with this recipe. I love it because the final products turned out much better than I hoped. I hate it because, well, the first tortes/pies went horribly horribly wrong. Given the venue and the timetable for Coronation, I knew that I needed to prep ahead and one of the items […]

Delay on recipes.
Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2012-09-30T23:35:18-05:00Sorry for the delay in posting. I’ve had a cold which is kicking my asthmatic butt. I will post a two part recipe to make up for the lack.
Rice Pudding with Almond Milk
Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2012-09-27T11:00:12-05:00One piece of the two part dessert I offered up at Coronation was rice pudding but it’s not the same as modern rice pudding. The medieval text for the recipe is rather long for a recipe that really only has four ingredients, mostly because half the recipe deals with how to make almond milk. To […]
Lessons learned from Coronation
Nadrah bint Valizan al-Garnatiyya2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00I’ve had a day or three to reflect on the Coronation feast and I think I’ve taken away a few good lessons from it.
- Ravioli was fun to try once but it was hell on the body – the clamp on my pasta machine broke and I’m physically paying the price. The end result was all […]
