I must admit, I only gave this recipe a passing glance before I eviscerated it completely.   I had two reasons for doing this, I didn’t have the budget to use the wine it wanted and I had limited pans available because of the hall.

  • 5 lbs red plums, pitted (skins on)
  • 1 tbsp sweet spice (cinnamon, clove, ginger)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • water, to cover

This recipe was cooked in a crock pot for about six hours.   Once cooked, the plums were pureed using a hand-blender.  The mix was tasted and the spices were corrected (I added about another 1/2 tsp of spice).  This recipe was made as an accompaniment for the rice pudding.
