Winter Squash Soup

2012-09-25T05:51:45-05:00

The recipes for the Fall Coronation feast of Roak and Elizabeth was predominantly Italian, the soup was not, it’s French.  I chose it because squash is such a fall harvest food item.  The recipe can be made with pumpkin but truthfully, I don’t like it that way.

New Look

2012-09-24T22:55:02-05:00

As you can see, I have a new look.   Over the weekend, I was visiting the home of two dear friends (who just happen to host this site) and I commented that I needed to get off my butt and find a new theme since the old one wasn’t working for me.   A quick series […]

You may not have noticed but…

2012-04-04T18:02:02-05:00

…we moved recently.  Thank you to the ever talented and slightly demented David who managed the domain move, etc, so that I didn’t have to.  My website skills could make a cat laugh but Dave is all-pro – literally.

While I haven’t posted in a while, I expect that to start changing in the next while […]

Spicy Cheddar Cheese Spread

2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00

Being true to my promise to post tasty recipe options for Primal meal options.

One of my favorite things use to be having nacho chips and cheddar cheese dip/spread – the recent changes to my dietary choices mean no chips but that doesn’t mean I can’t have this cheese spread on occasion.

Chicken and Sausage Gumbo – Primal Style

2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00

Two things to say right out of the gate.  First,  this is NOT authentic Cajun or Creole gumbo for a variety of reasons (file powder isn’t common up here in northern Ontario and there’s no okra which I loathe).  Second, the roux is not made with flour – this is a Primal based recipe, so […]

Making changes

2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00

The last week has been a process of studying a bit about this lifestyle change and about purging a lot of the things I need to get rid of.  I finally went through the kitchen and purged the flour, cleaning out the pantry of things we can’t have on this Primal food plan.   Today I […]

Food Choice changes

2012-01-31T00:17:06-05:00

I’ve been suffering from insomnia for quite a while now, several years of poor sleep quality finally took their toll. For a variety of reasons, my husband and I decided to embrace a gluten free, low carb diet and surprise of all surprises, I’m sleeping better.

Over the next little while, you’re likely […]

SOPA/PIPA

2017-05-19T12:22:05-05:00

Yes, I blog. The comments and recipes on this site are family recipes or recipes that have been altered, etc to the point where they’re merely a homage of the original. Posting them will become impossible with SOPA/PIPA because they’re potentially in conflict with copyright.

I appreciate that various media groups see this […]

New Project = more research

2011-09-06T18:20:00-05:00

Fateful words were spoken this weekend, they were short and to the point – “You know, the shires are on the hook for Fall Coronation 2012.” That sentence would dominate my quiet points for the weekend, that sentence being statement of intent – my home group will be submitting a bid.

It never occurred to me […]
