The event was a good time spent with friends despite being miserably cold and wet. Once again I prepared too much food but it meant leftovers when we got home. Thorsteinn seemed to enjoy the pulled pork and the stir fry wraps the most. I was very disappointed in the flavour and texture of the Moroccan Beef burger – I should have gone with my first instinct and done that as a wrap variation.

While in NB, Heather let me sample some syrups she made. One was a lovely ginger syrup, the other orange cardamom. Hands down I preferred the orange and yesterday I made a batch of what I figured would be similar. I made a simple syrup of 2 cups water, 4 cups sugar and then added 1/2 cup of white wine vinegar, one can of concentrated orange juice (just the concentrate) and about 8 cardamom pods. After talking to Heather, she mentioned she used ground cardamom and I will probably do that next time since there is no discernable cardamom taste to my experiment. I’m thinking that next time I may make orange ginger since I like that flavour combo.
