No details but recently circumstances required that I make a trip down to Toronto with my Mum.   While Mum did her stuff in the Greater Toronto Area, I got to spend an all-to-short six days in the company of my good friends Shane and Sheridan.  It was a bittersweet visit, sweet because I got six whole days with them and bitter because they use to be closer and I miss my weekend visits with them.  Deep River Snacks - Nacho Kick!

Either way, I had a great visit, was able to spend time with some friends I don’t see a lot of (John and Sandra) and had a general fun time when Sheridan and I took some time off to have a girlie day at David’s Tea and Sephora.

While I was exercising my inner girl, my Mum was in the process of buying half of metro Toronto for the store and that meant buying gourmet items – one of the things she purchases was a box of mixed chips for me.  One of the three chip types was Deep River Snacks’ Nacho Kick.   I must admit I liked these chips a lot, they were very crisp, spicy and full of cheesy goodness.  Not only did I like, my ultra picky hubby loved them too – which surprised us both given that they are multi-grain.  Generally he finds multi-grain chips to have all the attraction, taste and texture of either cardboard or a millstone – these were neither.   The chips were light and crisp, very reminiscent zesty cheese dorito but with none of the issues for me.  All natural, gluten free, no cholesterol, no trans fat, no MSG -these chips were made of whole corn, brown rice flour, flax seeds, sesame seeds, quinoa and a variety of flavours.   While they did contain milk ingredients, they were made in a nut free facility and one full bag (43g) was 210 calories.

Verdict: B+
