I have a confession to make, I did have a tea that I loved every bit as much as my current addiction. It was a fragrant tea, strong black with a crisp Vanilla flavour. It was called Bourbon Vanilla and it was sold by the now defunct Teaopia. Last year in the summer, Teavana bought Teaopia and I cried a little when I heard that Bourbon Vanilla was going bubye. Surely they’d have a similar tea, right? Right? WRONG!
While I was pining for my lost tea love, my SCA belt sister decided to get me addicted to her tea love (she’d been addicted by a mutual friend) and I wasn’t so sad but I do occasionally still miss that tea.
You can imagine my delight when I saw ‘Vanilla’ listed as one of Harney’s black tea offerings. Would it live up to my expectations though? The answer, happily, is yes. This tea is listed as a Briskness 2 Body 2 Aroma 4 as is described ‘reminding you of the sugar cookies your grandmother use to make’. Of all the samples I purchased, this is the one I enjoyed most. The aroma made my mouth water, it was the perfect breakfast tea for me.
Verdict: A
