Today’s sample is another of the two dollar tea samples from Harney’s. It’s called Hot Cinnamon, I choose this tea to see if it would work as a replacement tea for the Maharaja Chai I like but resent paying big bucks no whammies for.
This tea is listed under Black teas and is further divided into the Flavoured section. It’s classed as a Briskness 2, Body 2, Aroma 5. It’s described as being an assertive blend of black teas, three types of cinnamon, orange peel and sweet cloves. This is a sugar free tea.
This tea is not as aggressively flavoured as the Maharaja Chai from Teavana but it’s not loaded down with huge chunks of spice either. While there is strong cinnamon flavour, I didn’t find it as aggressively cinnamon as say, a cinnamon Altoid. I would class this tea as an evening tea for me, as I found the flavour and aroma soothing.
Now, as a replacement for the Maharaja, I think with some cardamom and ginger added, this tea could work as a viable replacement.
Verdict: B
