Things didn’t go quite as I planned a while back and my well intended plan to put basic ‘fundamentals’ on the blog fell through the cracks. Thanksgiving loomed and the weather shifted which left me in a fog of migraines that left me wishing someone would put me out of my misery. Last week was a bit of a disaster, a chance trace exposure to commercial mayonnaise led to two days of allergic hell and was followed with a full blown allergic reaction to my cousin’s perfume at a family get-together for the girls. This weekend I have other plans including a trip to my friendly neighbourhood italian butcher to pick up some veal bones so that I can make some veal stock for the freezer. I’m thinking that I may get some chicken and make some broth as well. The not-daughter is suppose to come over this weekend and since she never learned this at home, I’m going to teach her the basics. She was apparently told by a few people that the reason people don’t make stocks/broths/soup is that it’s complicated which is probably the most asinine thing I’ve heard in a while. It’s not complicated, it just takes time – which is portioned out, isn’t really that much of a big deal.
